Trey Bartlett
SPC Benjamin Blake (Trey) Bartlett, Jr. August 10, 1981-July 15, 2007
SPC Bartlett was killed in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered from a rocket propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, FortBliss.
He was the son of Benjamin Blake Bartlett, Sr. and Anna Ruth Lee Bartlett. Trey grew up in Woodland and was a member of the WoodlandBaptistChurch. He graduated from Flint RiverAcademy in 2000 and was a member of regional championship golf and football teams, the debate and science bowl teams, and a number of service organizations. Trey's teachers all remember him as a very happy student who always wore a smile. After graduation, he attended AuburnUniversity and worked in construction prior to entering the United States Army in November 2005. Trey entered the service at FortGillem in Forest Park and was assigned to HHC 4th Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas, which sent him to serve in Iraq in November 2006. Trey received the National Defense Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon during his time of service. He will be honored posthumously with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Combat and Action Badge, and his Weapons Expert Badge.
Trey had a special love for his family, particularly for his grandfather, Blake Bartlett, with whom he shared a close bond. Trey is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Blake Bartlett, Sr.; his mother, Anna Ruth Lee Bartlett; his sister, Lura Lee Bartlett; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Irad Lee of Madisonville, Tennessee; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Blake Bartlett of Woodland. He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Bartlett Loftin of Peachtree City; Mr. and Mrs. Lee James Bartlett of Loganville; Mr. and Mrs. Barbara Pennington of Madisonville; Mr. and Mrs. Irad Lee, Jr. of Madisonville; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Orman of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Mr. David Lee of Lenoir City, Tennessee; Mrs. Jane Lee of Athens, Tennessee; Mr. Alton Eddleman of Boerne, Texas; and Mr. Lindy McConkie of Madisonville; and cousins Tamara Bartlett Robinson, Heather Bartlett Kohberger, Kimberly Blake Bartlett, and Lynley Loftin Hipps.

Mr. Eddie B. Combs
The eighth of eleven children, was born March 7, 1914 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Mack and Luella Combs. The last of his lineage, he departed his life surrounded by love ones on June 15, 2007. He was joined in holy matrimony to Evelyn Stinson in 1947. He was a hard worker who was devoted to God, Church and family. Services of Love entrusted to: Hills' Funeral Home, Greenville, Georgia.

Sgt. Joseph Eugene Colquitt
We were proud to pay honour where honour is due
Meriwether County Sheriff's Deputy, Sgt. Joseph Eugene Colquitt died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Sgt. Colquitt was born September 5, 1966, at Fort Benning, the son of Sanford Colquitt and Theresa Passarelli. He was a member of Abundant Life Worship Center. As the CHAMPS officer for Meriwether County, Sgt. Colquitt was most recognized by the children of Meriwether County Schools in his efforts to teach and mentor them to becoming good citizens of our county. He had served in Harris County prior to his employment in Meriwether.

Barbara Way Zimmerman
Barbara Way Zimmerman, passed away on March 20, 2007. Barbara was born November 13, 1929 to her beloved parents Hubert and Alma Way and was raised in Oklahoma City, OK. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1952 where she was an avid Sooner fan. She was married to David Zimmerman and they traveled to England for his duties as a naval officer. They then moved to Atlanta to raise their four children. Mrs. Zimmerman was an active member of BrookhavenBaptistChurch and a great American. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Darrough of Seattle, WA; her children Mrs. Jane Hawkins and husband Peter of High Wycombe, England; Ms. Anne Zimmerman, Doug Zimmerman, Pete Zimmerman and wife Lisa of Atlanta; and 13 grandchildren; Rachel Kihn, Bonnie Clark, Bryant Looper, Jonathan Hawkins, Amy Looper, Steve Hawkins, Amy Zimmerman, Laura Hawkins, Emily Zimmerman, Ashley Zimmerman, Jordan Zimmerman, Weston Zimmerman and Audrey Zimmerman. She will be missed very much and the family looks forward to the day when they will all be together again. A private graveside service will be held for family members at ArlingtonMemorialCemetery.
