Mr. John Henry Adams
June 18, 1917 - September 4, 2006
Born to William Henry and Letha Benefield Adams, he was preceeded in death by his wife Gladys Adams, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He was survived by his wife Helen L. Adams, 2 daughters and sons in law, 2 sons and daughters in law, 2 step daughters, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a great great grandaughter, nieces and nephews. Services were conducted in the Chapel of Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home. Mr. Adams was a Horseman and it was our great honor to provide his last ride.
Mayor Dewaine Bell
Caring, Giving, Dependable Encouraging, Dignified, Humorous, Kind and Strong are all words that describe a leader, Dewaine Tillman Bell. He was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, mentor, friend and a musician at heart. Dewaine Tillman Bell was born in Duluth, Georgia on August 1, 1949, the second of seven children to Tillman and Mary Bell. He inherited a rich legacy of family, faith, character, and leadership. Bearing part of his father's name, he was motivated by unusual strength and drive. During this time he sought the ultimate love of God and joined the Popular Hill Baptist Church in Buford, Georgia.
Upon graduating from Buford High School, he entered Clark Atlanta University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music. He joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Panthers Marching Band and The Jazz/Concert Band. His career blossomed when he became the director of the Lamar County High School Marching Trojans. Thus, began his decorated career as a devoted educator, accomplished musician and a true civic leader who made a difference. His love for others was capitalized when he met and married Brenda Kendall. To this union a baby girl, Christal was born.
With the support of his family he returned to school and his matriculation at Georgia State University earned him a Master of Arts Degree in Music. His aspirations for knowledge led him to Troy State University earning a Masters of Art in Administration and a Specialist Degree in Leadership. Equipped with knowledge compiled with his leadership skills, he became the Assistant Principal and later the Principal of the Lamar County High School.
With his enormous love for children he understood the educational values for our future leaders of tomorrow. His commitment to his education was used to develop leaders and change the community's social and economical conditions. Striving and displaying fairness as a Municipal Court Judge.
Born to lead and determined to make a "positive difference in Barnesville and Lamar County," Judge Bell sought the office of Mayor and was elected as the first black Mayor of Barnesville. An advocate for change, Mayor Bell promoted Barnesville as one of the leading small towns in Georgia and constantly negotiated business contracts for the betterment of the city. Bridging the racial gaps, Mayor Bell's mission to promote positive change became his passion.
The passion continued until his untimely demise on Saturday, October 6, 2007. His legacy of love, leadership, positive change, devotion, and exuberant smile he extended to everyone is left to the future leaders in the society he lived and worked to all those who have encountered his presence.

October 8, 1983 - May 7, 2006 "He emcompassed so much of his family's hopes, dreams and philosophies. He defined marching to the beat of his own drum. My family appreciates higher education and Negus achieved it. My family appreciates love and Negus gave it. My family respects God and Negus knew Him. My family loves music and Negus was it. Negus was, is and will always be loved." Services by Seller Smith Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga.

Beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend was born on November 28, 1975 to McDonald and Teresa Redwine. Tavares was an outgoing individual, full of laughs and jokes. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed putting one on other faces as well. He was a loving and kind person and will be truly missed. His final arrangements were entrusted to Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

How blessed we are to have been born to such a wonderful mother. Everything we are, we owe to her. Her strength and wisdom guide us, her zest for life inspires us, her kindness and grace warm us. We have never known another person ike her, and we know in our hearts that we never will - she was truly one of a kind. We can only wish to have the light that she gave, for she touched all around her with a familiar grace. We are proud to be her children and could not have asked for more in a mother.
